June 20 and July 7, 2001
(Milo is 2 years and 5 months)
- I
noticed little sprigs of hair on his legs today! Another sign that he’s not so much of a baby any more!
- Speaking
of that child’s legs – you wouldn’t believe the number of bug bites on
them! I swear, he must be the
tastiest child in NC.
- His
favorite books right now are lift-the-flap books, especially “Dinosaur’s
Binket” and “Dear Zoo.” He
still likes "Jamberry," "But Not the Hippopotamus,"
"Five Little Monkeys," and "Construction Trucks".
- Favorite
video tapes right now are Blue’s Clues and “Big Job,” which is all
construction, farm, and fire trucks (from The Discovery Store).
He still watches his Elmo videos, but not as much.
- Favorite
animals are still Fishy, Kitty, Bear, and Monkey.
He loves Baby as well, and his squeaky Rubber Ducky.
- Favorite
songs are Wheels on the bus, Old McDonald, the MAIL! Song from Blue’s
Clues, Where is Thumbkin (Grandma Duhn taught him that one). He sings
perfectly on key! The words are a bit jumbled, though.
- Every
time he takes a nap or sleeps for the night, he takes off the sheet on his
crib. I finally figured out
that it’s because, directly on the crib mattress, is a picture of a baby.
He takes the sheet away so he can look at and talk to the baby.
- He
still chatters and sings for a while before he falls asleep.
If he sounds frightened or upset, I go get him, but that’s very
very rare. I think he just
winds down this way. It’s so sweet to listen to him in the monitor.
- Lots
of construction right outside our house right now, they’re putting in a
new water line (Berryhill). Milo
thinks it’s VERY exciting!
July 7, 2001
Got a reminder from friends that we need to make note of
some of Milo’s special pronunciations!
- Keno
= Play doh
- Flypaper
or pineapple or something like that = Skyscraper
- Cous
Cous = Blue’s Clues
- EE-Jah!
= Big Job!
I dug up the patch of land in front of our porch and now we use it as a dirt
pile. Milo is in hog heaven playing there, but his bug bites have
quadrupled! Bug spray does nothing. So far, he's not bothered by
them, but it still makes me a little nervous.
Also,
(Bad Mommy alert!), every time we drive past the fast food restaurant,
Hardee’s, Milo says “Shake?”
If I say “No, Kiddo, no shakes today,” Milo replies “Coke?”
